Use cards, keep some cash

Many Roma Norte restaurants, cafes, shops, and services accept cards, but pesos are still useful for markets, small vendors, tips, and backup. You do not need to carry a large amount for a normal day.

At a bar with table service, use the same judgment as a restaurant. Rideshare tips are optional and can be added in the app. For a private guide, driver, luggage help, or housekeeping, tip when the service was helpful rather than treating one fixed amount as mandatory. Small peso bills make this easier.

Use ATMs inside banks or secure locations when possible. Decline dynamic currency conversion if your own bank gives a better exchange rate. Avoid counting cash in the street or carrying all cards in one place.
