How to Get from Mexico City Airport to Roma Norte
A practical airport-to-Roma Norte guide covering AICM versus AIFA, Uber, authorized taxis, terminals, traffic, and arrival timing.
First: make sure it is AICM
Mexico City has two airports. Almost all international flights land at AICM (Benito Juarez, code MEX), 30-60 minutes from Roma Norte depending on traffic. AIFA (Felipe Angeles, code NLU) is a separate airport well over an hour north - if your ticket says NLU, budget significantly more time and cost for the transfer.
Terminal 1 vs Terminal 2
AICM has two terminals a shuttle ride apart. Aeromexico uses Terminal 2; most other international carriers use Terminal 1. Your rideshare pickup point depends on the terminal, so note it before landing.
Rideshare is the default
Uber works well at AICM: follow the signs to the designated rideshare pickup doors, confirm the plate, and expect roughly MX$450-$1,000 to Roma Norte depending on hour and demand. The ride takes 30 minutes at night and can stretch past an hour in weekday rush (7-10 AM, 5-8 PM).
Uber vs. authorized airport taxi
Uber is paid in the app and shows an estimated price before you confirm, but the amount can vary with traffic and demand. Pickup follows the location shown in the app, so mobile data helps. An authorized airport taxi is prepaid at an official counter inside the terminal, with a zone-based fare quoted before you leave the building. It can be convenient when you have several bags, prefer counter assistance, or do not have mobile data. Both options still depend on city traffic, and neither is always the least expensive.
The authorized taxi alternative
Use only the Taxi Autorizado counters inside the terminal. Pay at the counter before walking outside and follow the instructions to the assigned pickup area. Never accept a ride from someone approaching you in the arrivals hall.
Before leaving the terminal
If you need pesos, withdraw a small amount from a bank-branded ATM inside the terminal. Confirm your ride plate, then share your ETA with your host so check-in is ready when you arrive. Once settled, use your first 24 hours in Roma Norte for an easy arrival plan and the getting around guide for the rest of the stay.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the airport ride take?
It depends heavily on traffic. Plan extra margin during weekday rush hour or major city events.
Should I take rideshare or a taxi?
Uber is the simplest for most guests: route, price, driver, and plate in one place, roughly MX$450-$1,000 to Roma Norte. The prepaid authorized taxi counters inside the terminal are the fixed-price alternative.
How do taxi prices compare with Uber at Mexico City airport?
Uber shows a live estimate before you book, and that estimate can change with traffic and demand. An authorized airport taxi quotes a zone-based fare at the official counter and is paid before you leave the terminal. Compare the options when you arrive rather than assuming one is always cheaper.
What if my flight lands at AIFA?
AIFA (NLU) is a different airport well north of the city. The transfer to Roma Norte takes well over an hour and costs more; plan it before you land rather than improvising in the terminal.
